Death Comes For The Archbishop

I just finished reading a great classic novel: Death Comes For The Archbishop by Willa Cather. It chronicles Bishop Jean Latour, a Catholic missionary assigned to the New Mexico territory soon after its annexation into the United States. The novel picks up stories as Bishop Latour journeys across the rugged land ministering to Mexicans, Indians, and Americans alike.

I love the quote at the end of the book. Father Latour says, "I shall not die of a cold, my son. I shall die of having lived." I hope to do the same many years from now.
